When goji berries were first made available for purchase on the United States their cost was extremely high. This is because the berry is only found in Asia and must be imported. The expense of importing the berry and its health benefits being unknown caused there to be little consumer demand for the berry which also drove the price higher. Now the goji berry can be purchased for prices much lower than just a few years ago.
With consumer demand for the goji berry on the rise many goji bulk purchases are made by companies who buy foods from Asia and import them into the U.S. These bulk purchases of the berry began to make the market for the berries in the U.S. more competitive and the price began to make the price for these berries drop. As more and more people are buying this berry for its many health benefits more food importers keep bringing it into the country and the new competition keeps lowering the price.
